Altho I have found Dscaler to crash some times and for this reason I do record with virtualdub as it is a fool proof no crash program. It only means one deinterlace -filter to remove it and get nice resolution image. Megadrive can handle bigger resolutions via interlacing and this means bigger resolution natively without scaling. The best thing with interlacing is also the bigger resolution.

Also check your codecs what you are using with Dscaler. What is problem with interlacing? It's one filter in avisynth script that removes interlacing and like drakon said you can get nice 60fps do downgrade to 24fps or 25fps with filters and reduce unnecessary objects in the image in same time. I plan to buy something better soon because I've never hated a piece of hardware so much.Īm I the only person on here who absolutely DESPISES DScaler? I'm probably not doing things right, but every time I would record something with DScaler, I would end up with ENORMOUS video files as well as really severe interlacing.

I'm now going to have to look at some of the software mentioned here by others because it looks like I've been doing this wrong or at least poorly. This was a file after I rendered it although I've since improved how I was dealing with video from the PVR-150. This was a test video I did with it and I just uploaded the raw file it produced. ts files become huge and to top it off it doesn't work with the Genesis! The video looks good and the audio is decent, but the bundled software is very poor, the. I'll have to open Vegas and edit this post with the settings I use later. ts files into Vegas and render them with a bunch of custom settings I've found to work well. You can't change most of the settings for what it captures so I import the. It's not a very good piece of hardware IMO. I use a Hauppauge PVR-150 for most of my capturing needs with the exception of my 360.

And to open avisynth script on MPC directly with filtered results and watch your filtered movie before encoding. This is the reason why I like avisynth as it is detailed on their homepage so nicely and nearly every image problems has some kind of filter around to handle it. I have also found that a lot of bigger companies video editor programs crash like they were designed to crash. My normal video editing is avisynth script and Megui for compression as it handles both xvid and x264. Avisynth is great also for filtering vhs video. Remember to have big hard disk for storing lossless video files. Never record anything with compression codec as it will give you lossy recording and annoying stuff on the screen. Later if you need to add good scaling to bigger size then use Avisynth or some other video editor program to open lossless video and audio and then compress the result with your codec (xvid up to 520p. I recommend lagarith lossless codec for video and mp3 for audio.

D-scaler is really good for scaling up the videos. I use virtualdub or alternavely Dscaler altho it has a bit unintuitive recording mode which can be found on top right menu.
